Sugar, spice, and everything nice, Candy Magazine always understands its assignment in terms of visuals and contents. Since 1999, Candy Magazine cater to millions of Filipino readers from print to digital age. Looking back before, we consume magazines mostly physically—enjoy them over a glass of juice under the summer breeze while waiting for someone or maybe while getting a haircut in a salon. Now that we live in the digital age where everything is one click away, how do our favorite magazines keep up with the emerging technology?
In this article, we were going to review one of the most consumed teen magazine in the Philippines, and now has an online version, Candy Magazine. After reviewing the layout, content, color scheme, frequency of post, and the average feature stories they post, we will come up with a resolution on why this magazine is still popular and marketable.
In terms of layout, Candy Magazine online is very easy to navigate and has icons that serve as guides. They put the latest article to the uppermost part with visually pleasing photographs related to articles. Their social media accounts can also be seen on the upper left with icons that represent the platforms. The dropdown menu icon shows the categories and sections that you can browse such as Fashion, Beauty, Get Featured on Candy, Guys, and many more. Overall, this is a user-friendly layout that can be easily navigated by a first-time online reader.

Since Candy Magazine is a fashion magazine, one of its main focuses is fashion trends. They usually list down the fashion style of local artists such Julia Baretto, Belle Mariano, and even Kendra Kramer. From styling, poses, wardrobe, and all the topics related to fashion, Candy Magazine never misses a chance to deliver. The beauty section, on the other hand, contains make-up inspirations, trending hairstyles and colors, transformation, and even tips on getting a piercing.
Content

One of the most exciting features of this online magazine is the chance to be featured on its website. Under the section ‘Get Featured on Candy’, you can submit your own pictures and
stories. By simply creating an account and logging in, you can have the chance to star in your favorite magazine.
However, we all know that the main target audience of this magazine is the teenage girls but in the section ‘Guys’, boys will surely not be out of place. This section is for those boys who are also interested in reading trendy articles, it contains tips on selfies, cool haircuts, and love tips. On the other hand, I think girls also can enjoy this section because they also feature famous artists, athletes, and idols.
‘All-access section contains diverse topics that can surely hook you into reading it while ‘Lifestyle’ produce article related to real-life tips and stories. One of my favorite categories is the Candy Feels, it shares stories of various people from their personal life and experiences, which I relate to the most because it truly captures the human interest side of the readers.
Since online shopping is also one of the trends right now, Candy Magazine together with partner stores gives away discount coupons in the coupon section. Additional information about the website such as contact number, site maps, and privacy policy is indicated in the bottom part of the drop-down menu. All in all, content-wise wise, fresh and interesting.
Color Scheme

Colors are usually popping in Candy Magazine, it is one of their staples and so is the online version. They use vibrant colors on a black background to highlight the fonts and compliment the Graphics. They use gradient colors on title bars and section names to easily catch the attention of the readers. This was a good strategy because I, myself was easily attracted to those colors. Neon violet, blue, yellow-green, and pink were the most used colors which set a cheerful tone to the whole website. For me, It's like I’m in the world of colorful fluffy cotton candy-sweet and delightful just like the whole vibe of this online
magazine.
Frequency Of Post
In my observation, the website release article every two hours, Thus, an average of twelve articles a day at most. In my opinion, these numbers are not bad for an online magazine since two hours interval is enough to engage readers to read other articles. They are active rather than other online magazines that post 4-6 articles on average a day.
The average feature stories they post
Since their quota a day is 12 articles, They post a total of 8 feature articles per day, at least. It varies from fashion, beauty, lifestyle, etc., All of their articles are diverse but also stick to the
main genre of the magazine. This is a cool way to make readers stay because they feed them different topics and perspectives which entertain and at the same time, inform the consumers.
In conclusion, Candy Magazine online proved why it is one of the most consumed magazines in print and in online in the Philippines, except for its visually appealing image, its content is very relatable and also entertaining. If you are a sweet tooth who is looking for a candy-like story, I recommend Candy Magazine to you because it will bring you to a sweet land full of honey-like stories, sour patches to sugar rush journeys, and a marshmallow on a hot chocolate-like warming adventure.
